Why is my refrigerator warm?
A warm refrigerator can be a scary thing. When you
open the door to the fridge and find that it feels warm inside, the
realization occurs that this may mean that all of your food has spoiled, and
your refrigerator might be broken, leading to a considerable cost of
replacing both the food and the unit. Refrigerators can be warm for a
variety of reasons, some of which are more serious than others.
Note – Are You Sure it is Warm?
One important thing to do is make sure that your
refrigerator is warm at all. If It is cold inside of your home it can feel
as though the refrigerator is warmer than it is, and if someone recently
opened the door for a long period of time, all of the cold air may have been
released. Make sure that your refrigerator is truly warm by giving it a few
minutes and seeing if it cools back down. Insert a thermometer inside if
needed.
Checking to See What is Causing the Warmth
If you are able to confirm that your refrigerator
is warmer inside than it is supposed to be, there are a variety of things
for you to check. Here are some of the possible reasons that your
refrigerator may feel warmer than it is supposed to:
·
Unplugged – Refrigerators can unplug on
their own if the vibrations of the home caused the plug to loosen over time.
Check to make sure your refrigerator is adequately plugged in.
·
Higher Temperature – The temperature
inside of the fridge can be controlled. It is possible that it is on a
higher setting than is ideal, causing it to be warmer than it should be.
·
Broken Fan – If the fan inside of the
refrigerator breaks, your refrigerator will not be able to cool. Check the
fan to make sure that your refrigerator is working properly.
·
Components – Your refrigerator has a
variety of components, including coils, a compressor and more. If any of
these components breaks down or gets clogged, it is possible that your
refrigerator will not be able to cool correctly. Check to make sure your
drain is not clogged as well.
·
Refrigerant Loss – Your refrigerator
uses a “refrigerant” to work properly. If a hole is found in the process,
the refrigerator may leak out refrigerant, and the entire cooling process
may suffer.
Little things as well, such as an abundance of hot
foots placed inside the fridge at once, can all lead to the refrigerator not
working properly. The fridge is an appliance that is working nonstop to keep
your food cool. It uses a complicated refrigerant procedure that is
effective, but does not respond well to problems. If there is an issue with
any component of your fridge, it is possible that the entire process can
stop working, causing your refrigerator to warm. It is also possible that
your fridge may simply be unplugged. If your fridge is warmer than it should
be, throw out any expired foods and check out all of the above options.
